A soul touching and emotional singer/songwriter and guitarist whose music combines traditional desert Blues melodies, rootsy percussive African grooves and acoustic Folk with Mediterranean textures, Buzzy Lao is a real ‘no border’ artist who enchants with his soulful voice, intimate and meaningful lyrics and powerful expressive guitars.

Strong with his cross-cultural sensitiveness, he was born in Turin to parents from a small Arbëreshë town (Albanian etno-language minority) in southern Italy and musically raised in London between jam & studio sessions where he lived for 6 years, Buzzy Lao returns to Italy in 2016 after touring all over Europe with previous projects. In the same year he signs for independent label INRI releasing his first solo album HULA, which obtains excellent feedback from the public and critics allowing him to play more than 100 shows in Italy and Europe.

The following year sees the release of a full live album ‘Live at Jazz Club Torino’ along with supporting major acts like Sigur Ros.

Buzzy Lao writes about themes related to introspection, fortitude and personal and social awareness. His songs are defined as intense, deep and with an out of the ordinary sensitivity.

The Weissenborn (acoustic Hawaiian lap steel guitar made known by artists like Ben Harper, John Butler and Xavier Rudd) along with several acoustic and electric guitars in open tuning bring out his nature as a performer who is able to alternate moments of great sound energy with intimate and delicate acoustic passages

Buzzy Lao is also very close to the world of Surf & Skate as he is a regular musical guest in different occasions such as The Skate and Surf Milan Film Festival in which he was the special music artist in 2019

In January 2020 Buzzy Lao, after moving to Palermo as fascinated by the exotic and mystical culture of the island in the center of the Mediterranean, released the second album ‘Universo / Riflesso‘ for INRI and his own newly founded label Bunya Records. The album, which gets exciting reviews, blends West African Blues, Afrobeat and Roots Reggae now contaminated by the contemporary and international folk à la Josè Gonzalez and Micheal Kiwanuka. The album also sees the precious participation of Italian Hip Hop legend Dargen D’Amico in the song ‘Haya‘, followed by a special remix made by Italian producer & Dj FiloQ.

In 2021 he continues his artistic and human path in Sicily, and dedicates himself to writing new material from which ‘Fango‘ was born: the new folk and intimist ballad published by surprise on May 2021 exclusively via Bunya Records and which anticipates a summer tour in acoustic throughout Italy.

Currently Buzzy Lao is working on his third studio album in which he will continue his multicultural musical research that makes him a real ‘no border’ artist.
